PowerMac G5 won't turn on

I just got back from Thanksgiving break to find my G5 sitting there with its power light turned on. I distinctly remembered shutting it down when I left, so I was wondering what was going on. Upon closer inspection, it wasn't actually turned on, just the light was.

So I then proceed to try and turn it on by pushing the power button, but nothing happens. I then unplug everything, and wait a few minutes, plug just the power back in, and the power light comes on like it was before, but the system still won't turn on. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this? I have some very important information on there, and I cannot even boot it in to target disk mode.

Has anyone seen a problem like this before? I have a surge protector, so I don't think a surge could have caused this.

Any help is greatly appreciated, since I really need that computer. My life is on that computer.

It is a dual 2.5 GHz G5 with 1 GB of Apple RAM, and an X800XT. I had never had any previous problems with it.

What happens when you hold down the power button to try and turn it off?

Holding down the power button does nothing. The system is not turned on, only the power light is permanently lit when connected to power. The system will not turn on no matter what I try. I have tried different outlets, and the system was unplugged for the past hour, and when I tried plugging it back in, still nothing.

Does anyone know how long the turnaround is with Apple Care and a G5? I need this computer back immediately because everything I do is on there.

Try resetting the PMU using the guide here http://g5support.com/group/viewtopic.php?t=338

I assume it applies to all G5's.

Is it the same with everything disconnected except power?

I'd reccomend leaving everything unplugged over night and if it still doesn't work you'll have to give Apple a call.

Maybe your house got struck by lightning while you were gone. Surge protectors don't always do their job.
