Hi

I have an iMac LCD 800MHz with 756 megs of RAM. Today I am running Panther quite well but lately I have been considering Tiger.
Would it be faster upgradding to Tiger or slower?
Is my machine enough, CPU wise and perhaps more importantly memory wise?

I know it fulfills the official requirements for sure but realistically I want it to be at least as fast as Panther to do it. all OS X upgrades so far have improved on speed and I dont want to break that tradition.

Comments?

Thanks

Peter

It should run fine with that much RAM/CPU, I doubt you'll notice a performance change, and unfortunately your card doesn't support Core Image so you'll miss out on some of the effects.

Tiger and Panther perform pretty much identically.

I would go one step further and say, while tiger may have a slightly larger system requirements, many tasks will run much faster under tiger as compared to panther.

And if you had a G5, some operations would be much faster under Tiger.

I installed Tiger on my sister's 800mhz iMac G4 and she has 768 megs of Ram and there is a noticeable improvement over Panther.

Don't worry about the Core Image thing. It basically means that the Dashboard ripple effect won't take place, which is no big loss, trust me.
