About 6 months ago I added a Pioneer DVR 103 superdrive to my quick silver mac (originally had just CD-RW). The superdrive was pulled from another quick silver mac. Lately it wont play or display commercial music CD's. I'm running 10.4.3 with all the latest updates. When I run system profiler it says "unit # 0" for the super drive and "unit # 0" for the hard drive. Is that some type of conflict or is that normal for them both to say "uni # 0"? Any other thoughts?

Are they on the same IDE cable or different cables?

Have you tried the drive in another computer? Maybe the drive is just dying on you …

Usually, optical drives and hard drives are on seperate IDE channels. Therefore, it is normal to see the optical drive and hard drive both as "unit #0".

I agree with OreoCookie, it could simply be a case of the drive dying.
