My dual 2.7 is showing readings of 96 Celsius (205 F) in temperature monitor. This is CPU B. CPU A gets doesn't get over 75 (celsius). I'm just wondering if this is running too hot..considering this is pretty damn close to the boiling point of water!

I'd say yes, it is too hot.

But remember that Macs go to sleep when they overheat. My guess is that temperature monitor is reporting erroneous readings. Download another temperature monitoring app and see what it reads.

Those both seem rather high... IIRC the temp limit for PPC970 is 105C.

God damn thats hot!!! Everyone says intels run hot but this is something else. I'd say anything over 75C under full load is too hot. Someone said that the safe limit for the processor is 105C but I think that just means you can take it up there for short terms without breaking anything but running it for long periods of time close to that temp cant be good.

My dual 3Ghz xeons used to run at around 65C full load and that used to make me nervous so I swapped coolers. now it gets to about 50C with 1/2 the noise.... Anyway ya I think you're running too hot. I'd call apple and ask if thats too hot or not.
