It seems that the Radeon 9800Pro Mac:Edition 128MB AGP 2x/4x is no longer available. This is the CoreImage card I need for my MDD DP 1.25 1.79GB RAM. So what are my options now for a video card that will support CoreImage/Video? I just saw that there is now the Radeon 9600Pro 256MB. How does that compare to the 9800Pro 128MB? Who is using this card in a G4 system? I really need access to CoreImage as more and more of the OS is going CoreImage/Video.

So what are my options for none used or modded cards to get CoreImage?

Thanks

9600 is slower than 9800. If you want to know how much, look at barefeats or tomshardware.

Other options? Hop over to Froogle and buy a 9800Pro 128MB Mac Edition (4x/2x AGP) from one of the dozens of merchants who has them in stock. Prices start at around $240, so the 100% Mac tax makes mduell cry, but they're readily available.

at $240, the 9600Pro 256MB is the same price. I'm in Canada and can get it for $300 Canadian which is what $240US is aprox.). Will look into the comparison reviews. I am not going to be running DOOM3 or etc. Some games, but primary use is CoreImage.

Doing further research, there is now a "Radeon 9800 Pro Mac" 2x/4xAGP with 256MB RAM. That should be perfect for maximizing preformance on my system.

If you're going to be using things like Motion, it'll love you for the 9800.

Sent you a PM, Mac Write. I've got an Apple OEM 9700 Pro that I'm not using.

I will be using it for Core Image/Video stuff (I am broke) but will also look at swinging Aperture. See if I can get a review copy from Apple or something.
