I was just given a 5 or 6 year old imac, and it will not boot. The second I turn it on I just get a blank gray screen with a little flashing mac icon with a question mark in the middle. I don't know much about macs since I have been a windows user for as long as I can remember. Can anyone help? I really want to get this thing running ASAP!

It won't boot because it can't find the OS. That's what the little flashing Mac icon is.

Do you have the original system disc? Try putting it in the machine, then holding 'c' while it boots -- it should boot the OS off the CD, then let you re-install on the iMac.
