are there any devices that can go through either firewire or usb 2.0 to use an Imac as a TV screen? I don't really know i'm using a Windows machine now and my friend has an external tv tuner made by viewsonic that hooks up to his monitor which I know isn't possible since it's built all-in-one.....that is why I was wondering if there was anything for Firewire or USB i kinda wanted to know if I could run a gamecube or PS2 through the monitor as well as cable tv just a long question nothing else....
Yes, there are Firewire (and USB, I think) TV tuners available for Macs. Look at elgato and miglia. They're good for watching TV, but the lag they add (about a second) makes them entirely unsuitable for playing games on a console.
Yes, other people agree with me. Although one disagrees, claiming miglia has a zero lag tuner; I haven't seen it and find it hard to believe. Perhaps you can try it and report back.
