x800xt and Dual 2.5 won't play

10.4.3 Dual 2.5, 5GB with a radeon 9600. When I plug in the x800 card, (good contact) my machine won't start, shuts itself off in 1 second as it finds the card. No problem card out or 9600 back in. x800 came yesterday. Just a bum card or is there something else going on? Thanks...Peter

Well that's a puzzle. The box came with instructions for the 8600 pro including making a direct power connect. I called ATI, they said it's the wrong manual (!) and the card should plug and play, and others have reported to me theirs works that way. stumped....Peter

Well that's a puzzle. The box came with instructions for the 9600 pro including making a direct power connect. I called ATI, they said it's the wrong manual (!) and the card should plug and play, and others have reported to me theirs works that way. stumped....Peter
