hi. i have a gigbit ethernet and was wondering about video cards that can go in it. it is a 2X AGP, so will any card (4x, 8x agp, etc.) work in it but only at 2x speed? or do i have to only get 2x/4x cards?

You must look for a card that supports 2X AGP. As far as I know, the best retail card available to you is the ATI Radon 9800 256MB Mac Edition. This card, however, does not offer any acceleration when booted in OS 9.

If you would ever boot into OS 9. I'm on a Radeon 8500, 64mb. It's not the fastest crayon in the box, but it's sufficient. Look over at xlr8yourmac.com for card reviews from other users. When I got my 8500, the biggest note about it was people thought that the bus couldn't put through anymore than the card couldn't pump out.

If you do need acceleration in OS 9 and OS X, I think that the best card would be the GeForce4 Ti 4600, however, it does not support Core Image.

The Radeon 8500's a great card for a 2x AGP machine.

The Radeon 9000 will also work, OWC has them for US$120. http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/add/5...I100433020KIT/

Personally, I'd try to fine a 64MB 8500 from a PC and flash it.

That's what I did, however I paid more than $120 for it. So do the best you can.
