Hello all,

I am a PC user whom is new to macs (not a fan), so I dont know everything about them, but maybe one of you nice people can help.

Myfriend bought a Power Mac G3 (b&w) comp with MACOS 9.2, and it ran great for awhile. It ran off a windows server for internet.

Then somehow it got locked out and is asking for the users password.

This is what first comes up >

MM Server 1 window
Search for machintosh Manager Server (can't find server on network.)

With four buttons (Pick Server) (Offline) (Finder) (Shut Down)

If I push pick server, it will ask for the password. (owners or server admin pass)
If I push Finder, it will ask for the password. (owners or server admin pass)
If I push shut down, the computer will shut down.

If I push Offline, then this will come up >

Welcome to Mac OS
Your user name is the first four letters of your lask name and the first two letters of your first name. Do not use spaces.

Well, we do not know who or what the password is. It also has the Server on MM Server 1, but can not be changed to Other Remote Servers because it asks for the password.

The only other thing I can click on is the HELP, which only shows useless help balloons.

We have been trying to fix this computer for over 3 days and it seems the only tech help we have found so far are asking use for money so they can do it when all we want to do is get through the password of format the machine.

we do not have a MACOS 9.2 CD, (trying to find one)

Please help!! This is what we have tried...with a MACOS X Panther CD, and a Burned MACOS 9.2 DMG formate and a DMG that was also Burned as a ISO formate.

Pressing the
APPLE-O-F
'C' key,
option 'C' key
'X' key
APPLE+Control+Restart
apple + 'C'
'shift' key' - when the shift key is pressed this window comes up >
"you either help down the shift key or extensions are disabled. If you want to go to the finder you must enter multiple users owner password on the next screen.
At the next screen it comes up asking for the password saying "to quit to the finder, please enter either the computer owners or server admin password" with SHUTDOWN or OK as the buttons.
Control+reset
Apple+reset to get to Bios? nothing happens
Apple+control+reset (resets fine...)

I tried passwords like admin, or just blank, that just shakes the window.

We also opened up to the motherboard and took the battery out , and put it back in. all that did was reset the date and time on the machine.

If we can formate the machine that be great, or just getting in, either way..

any ideas?

That machine is locked down for use with Mac Manager. Without the administrator password (set up by the administrator), it won't work away from the network it's set up for.

You can reformat it when you get an installer disc.

The hardware has NO control over this, which is why all the stuff you tried doesn't work.

The Mac doesn't have a PC-style BIOS.
