I just bought this iMac with iSight a few days ago. So far I have been very happy with it, but now I am worried that it is defective. I was playing around with Frontrow and picked an album of photos to watch as a slideshow in Frontrow. After 3 or so minutes of watching the display gets distorted. The only way to fix it is to either reboot or switch the display to 256 colors. However if I switch it back out of 256 colors, it becomes distorted again. I used the keyboard shortcuts to take a screen capture and to my surprise it saved the distortion. Now one thing that I don't understand is that this ONLY happens in Frontrow. I tried using iPhoto itself to display a slideshow and it was fine. I also have DOOM3 on the computer and never had a problem. This really sucks. I have a 2GB DDR2 stick on the way and can't wait to get finished setting this beast up! So.. Has anyone heard of this or experienced this problem?

I just wanted to let you guys know that putting the computer to sleep and then waking it up also fixes it.

I took the computer back to the Apple store and they gave me another one. Horray, problem gone! The genius at the Apple store said that the video card was bad. I still find it surprising that you can take a screen capture and capture a hardware problem.

Sure it wasn't photoshop? Looks like a photoshop filter

That is reaaaally odd, especially as it saved the distortion in the screen cap as well!

Can you post a full screen cap of it?

Now why would I fake a problem to just get another iMac? I could understand your suspicion if i wanted my money back.
