Hey all,

I just had a look on Apple's site, and noticed that the Apple Remote is Compatible with Apple products introduced in 2005 or later that have a built-in Infrared (IR) receiver.

As far as I'm aware, this is only the new iPod Univesal Dock, and the new iMacs. Does anyone have any speculation as to why Apple went with Infrared, rather than Bluetooth for the Apple Remote? Considering that everything else wireless Apple has done (that I'm aware of) has been BT, why the sudden change to IR?

As pointed out by someone far cleverer than me... BT battery usage sucks compared to IR.

I'm surprised they say IR products from 2005 and later... the old IrDA standard should be more than fast enough.
