So I have a Powermac G4 Mirror Drive 1ghz (also known as FW800 series). I have a Dell 2005fpw that can rotate. I'm running Tiger. I've done numerous searches and I've discovered that because of my Geforce card, I can't make use of the display rotation feature.

Here's my question:

Does anyone have this model with an ATI that is working FULLY with the rotation feature? I have heard accounts that by holding down option while going into Displays in the preference panel, you can enable rotation, but not all of the features are there... i.e., the trackpad doesn't rotate with it, etc. I was going to buy an Ati Radeon 9600 pro to try and enable this feature but I want to know if it works before I spend the money.

thanks and happy holidays

My best client has an older model, a QuickSilver, with a Radeon 9200 (I think) card that will do pivoting.

And why would you want the trackpad to rotate? Even if you pivot an external display, the keyboard will be in front of you, and the trackpad with it. Never mind that rotating a trackpad isn't a display driver's job.

I can rotate my 1905fp fine with my MDD (radeon 9000) and tiger. It's a bit choppy but my stock video card is a bit old.

I can confirm what SSharon says, single 1,25 GHz MDD with a stock ATI Radeon 9000, ATI Displays let me do it.

It works fine on all my MDDs with Radeon 9800s and HP L2335 23" LCD.

I believe that Versavision (ATI's name for this rotation feature) is available to all their current retail cards. It's just a matter of installing the ATI Displays preference pane.
