Hi All and Merry Christmas,

This is my first post so please be gentle. I have recently purchased a mint second hand Dual 2.0Ghz and am over the moon with it.

However since I am doing a lot of video work the 160Gb is being eaten up at an alarming rate.

I am therefore about to purchase a new hard drive for my Dual 2.0Ghz.

Firstly will any SATA drive be OK, have read a few other posts and some talk about a list on the Apple site which list compatible drives. Is this true as I cannot find it.

Also I am in the UK and can anyone recommend a reliable cheap retailer for a nice fast 250GB hard drive.

Anyhelp would be much appreciated.

Any SATA drive should work; I've heard of some problems with high capacity (300GB+) Seagate drives due to SSC, but you can disable that with a PC.

I'd look at 300GB too, since their price per gig has recently dropped to about the same as the 250s.

Mark, have you heard of the 400GB Seagates having the SSC issues as well as the 500GBs? For some reason I thought this was isolated to the 500GB 7200.9 series.

To dislike Sinatra is a sign of highly questionable taste. To dislike the Beatles is a serious character flaw.

As far as I know, all 7200.9 drives support SSC but usually comes disabled. A few batches of 500GB drives have shipped with SSC enabled and are causing problems in PowerMacs.
