Hello
Im thinking of getting the new G5quad. I have a G4 duala with two PCI TV cards. I read somewhere that there may be a PCIe to PCi converter so that I may use the old cards in the new machine

any ideas about this?

thanks rotuts

All of the PCI-PCIe brigdes I know of have to be soldered on the card itself: you take the design of a pci card and make it a pcie card for relatively little money. I don't know of any `external adapter'.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Not true. Magma Technology offers one now, but doesn't yet provide Mac support.

They've made PCI expansion chassis for years.

PCI expansion chassis (PCI <-> PCI, PCI-X <-> PCI, PCI-X <-> PCI-X) have been out for a long time, PCIe <-> PCI is just another iteration. Beware, they're usually not cheap, and you may be better off buying a new dual tuner card.

True- I skipped over the original post. Definitely not cost effective to buy an expansion chassis for a tuner card. The cheapest 1-slot PCI chassis is more than $800; the 6-slot PCIe chassis is going to be quite a bit more.

The PCIe -> PCI (6 slot) lists at $1,999. You could keep your older PCI PowerMac for less than that.
