Ummm... what?

G4s, as a whole, have no unusual troubles ejecting discs. If a disc is in use, it won't eject. The emergency eject hole also won't work until the disc is no longer in use (defined as "when the OS has 'released' the disc by dragging to the trash).

Irish, here's an answer to what I think you're saying:

My guess is that when you hit the eject key on the keyboard, the Eject icon pops up on the screen but the CD/DVD doesn't eject? Then you use a paperclip to eject the CD manually?

I've had that problem maybe three or four times since I've owned my laptop. Hit the eject key and the icon pops up on the screen, but then it doesn't eject the disk. I had to restart.

Since on a Mac the eject is controlled by the OS instead of physically hitting the eject button like on a PC, if the OS gets corrupted, or busy, or whatever, somehow I can see how it might keep the from actually ejecting the CD/DVD.

My suggestion is to make sure you're updated to the latest version of OS X and that you've repaired permissions on the OS. I haven't seen the Eject problem since I've updated to 10.4.3, although, now I have audio problems. My alert sound gets garbled occasionally when I adjust the audio. Just a small bug and it doesn't really bother me.

I think he's saying that the drive won't stop spinning, therefore the eject button doesn't work, and he has to manually eject discs with a paperclip. Sounds like a bad drive to me.
