I have just bought an older verison imac. (350Mhz processor, 512Mb ram, 7gb HDD)
At the moment, it has linux (ubunto) running on it. But i think i would like to remove linux and re-install ox panther (which i have the cds for). Can anyone help me in this process... I am a VERY basic mac user, so i need slow and simple instructions.
Thanks :o)

1. Stick CD into the drive.
2. Double-click the Installer icon.
3. Let the Installer do what it want's to do.
4. Let it partition your entire hard disk.
5. Configure and Go.

How's that?
iMac - C2D, 2.8Ghz, 4GB, 320GB
MacBook - C2D, 2.4Ghz Uni, 4GB, 500GB

Wrong, unfortunately.

1. Power up Mac in Linux.
2. Stick CD into slot.
3. Power down Mac.
4. Power Mac up, hold down 'c' key on keyboard while starting up.
5. Mac will start from CD.
6. Follow on-screen instructions.

imac page at Lowendmac - http://www.lowendmac.com/imacs/index.shtml

This - http://www.lowendmac.com/imacs/350.html - would indicate you need a Firmware upgrade that must be done using 9.1 Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in to help.

Luck.

Note- Sorry for the dupe post. Forum is a bit wonky right now...
