Greetings!
I was wondering if anyone can give me a little info/help. I'm a bit of a distressed mom. I ordered a refirb. emac for my son on 1/5 & I got it yesterday morning ( I also ordered an airport extreme card so he can use my airport network.) Anyways, I got it out of the box, plugged it in, and as I expected, worked great. I then contacted AppleCare to help me install the card. When I restarted the eMac, nothing...just the power light & fan. No display, no response to keyboard commands...Tech Support was unable to help. I cannot get an appointment at any SF Bay Area Apple stores, and CompUSA testimonials are rather dodgy. Any reccomendations? This is new to me, my PowerBook G4 has always worked great.

I had something similar to this happen when I intalled an Airport Card in my father's iBook. I recall that the installation steps need to be followed very closely. It was particularly important to do the steps in the right order.. powering off, etc.. I suggest removing the card and seeing what happens. Then carefully reinstall the card making sure that it is securely inserted into its slot, etc.. You may want to check if it is all the way into its slot before doing anything else. It does take a fair amount of force to properly seat an Airport card.
