I love my MDD G4 with it's four hard drive and two optical bays. I've been hoping that the switch to Intel would bring back this kind of expandability back to the Mac. Am I dreaming?

Maybe. maybe not. Like all mac fans, we wish that we had more room to expand our machines but instead have to go external using firewire and USB. I think you maybe or maybe not dreaming. There was enough room to put in about 6 HD's to the G5 case with Intel logicboard in there. G5's take up alot of room because of heatsinks. It may turn out one way or another.

I agree, the MDD Power Macs are really cool and good looking. Mine is a single 1.25 GHz 2003 model, the one that can run Mac OS 9. A Dual CPU model with USB2, FW800, Airport Express, BT… would be really cool, I have the feeling that a tower MUST be at least dual cpu and mine isn't.
