So, I have found a used powermac and am pretty sure I can get applecare added on. So I have 2 questions.
1)The gentleman gave me the serial and it has 50 days of warranty left on it. So my question is, if he does not have the original receipt is there no way for me to buy applecare on it? Or because he purchased it brand new, and I walk in to an apple store and buy applecare and register it, am I now the one registered for the computer?
2)If you have a problem with a powermac and live no where near an apple store will they come fix it on site, or do you have to pay to ship it to them, how does that work?

1. You don't need the original purchaser's receipt, but it would be a good idea to have a bill of sale.
2. AppleCare does not provide on site service, so yes, you do need to ship it if you don't live near an authorized retailer. I'm not entirely sure about shipping cost, since I have never shipped a Mac for service, but I believe Apple covers it.

okay, so they just dropped the price on the dual 2gig refreshes so I bought one. My only question is it says it won't ship for 7-10 business days, don't they usually ship faster than that? Also, do they always ship the refurbs from California, because if so, ground and overnight would be the same as ground makes it anywhere in CA the same day and that would save me a bunch on shipping.

Thats great for people that live in the sticks. About 200/250 miles away from a Apple store for me and why is it I've heard some people on here and other forums Apple technicians came out to fix their PowerMac's even bringing the parts with them...
{Edit] Just checked the Applecare Protection Plan manual and it says onsite repairs but you do need proof of purchase.
