Hi!
I installed a M-Audio Revolution 5.1 soundcard to my G4 MDD powermac. I also installed a driver that came with the soundcard.
But, the soundcard doesn't work. I checked M-Audio's web page and they have not yet done a driver for Mac Os 10.4.4.
So, do I have to wait until they have done the driver or is there any other way to get the soundcard to work?
I tried the driver for 10.4.2 but it doesn't work either.
Do You have any tips for me?
I'm just wondering.....the soundcard doesn't even give a slightest sound.....argh...what shoul I do? Just wait for the driver for 10.4.4?

I don't have that card therefore I can not help that much, but I can read that there are people complaining about that card not working under Tiger, some got it working with an old 1.0.0 driver, read about it here:

I have an M-Audio Revolution 5.1 card in my PowerMac dual 1.8 running 10.4.4. I was recently running 10.3.9. I had driver difficulties but kept hacking away at it and finally have it working well, but can't say exactly why. M-Audio has a goofy driver search--when you search for a driver for 10.3.9, it tells you they don't have one. You have to figure out on your own to go back and use an earlier one. Tech Support email is fairly worthless. I actually found that an older driver (1.0.0!) worked better than the latest on 10.3.9. And when I try to put the M-Audio control panel in my startup items, it says "a card could not be found" at startup. So when I want to invoke the driver, I have to click on the shortcut each time. Nonetheless, now I have it working to my satisfaction under 10.4.4 and am using both front and back speaker ports so I have surround sound after a fashion. The functionality and user interface of the control panel itself is OK.

I got tired of M-Audio's drivers breaking with every single point release of OS X and I finally sold mine on Ebay and got a MOTU Traveller. I know the traveller's not a 5.1 device, but I think there's got to be better alternatives to M-Audio in the 5.1 arena, too.

I have the revolution 7.1 card and the only problem I had with it was with an earlier driver that wouldn't let my MDD sleep. Since I never slept the computer anyway I didn't care much and the issue was resolved in a newer driver update anyway. My MDD is in a box right now otherwise I would update to 10.4.4 and see if I have the problems you describe. Have you tried it in different PCI slots?

I wonder what is holding m-audio up with 10.4.4 support?
Usually by the time the update is out, they have a driver for it :/
