I know this might sound stupid but I was wondering if there is any type of software or a way to make the iMac display over 1680x1050? Like 1920x200. 2560x1600 for example?!?!?

You mean make a virtual desktop that you would access via scrolling? Because otherwise you can't go beyond the resolution on the iMac's LCD screen.

It's an LCD, not a CRT. You can only go up to the screens native resolution (1680x1050 in this case).

Get yourself an external CRT or LCD that supports that resolution you want to run and span your desktop. Lots 'o real estate!

Yeah I am really looking into that but I wish Apple would make a monitor that looks just like the iMac (same height, color except with no processor inside) so you would be able to add a second monitor. I think it would bother me if I had a monitor of a different height and color...Maybe Apple or another company will come out with something like that...

Isn't the DVI port only made for output devices? Or it does both in and out?
