I have a graphite 400mhz iMac with presumably a bad CRT (will not light up althought HD spins up, etc.) and I also have a 350mhz Blueberry with a faulty HD. Rather than give these fine machines the big heave-ho, I'd like to come out with at least one for the g'kids, preferably the 400 machine....and more preferably, both machines up and running.

I searched the archives and was not able to find any clear instructions on how to R&R the CRT's or even how to remove the outside case (although I did get the bottom off and the bad HD out of the 350.

Where might one get definitive info on changing out the CRT, or am I even on the right track?

Thanks in advance!

Be careful! The CRTs contain extremely high voltages.

You'll need to find an Apple Service manual wich contains instructions on removal and installation. You will also need to discharge the CRTs using a discharge tool.

The proceedure can be complicated.

It is most likely an analog/video board problem.
