So, I buy a used MDD G4 Dual 1.25Ghz (1.5G RAM) machine yesterday with Tiger pre-loaded on it. I try to update to the latest Tiger version using Software Update. After the SU stops a few times right before it finishes downloading the update, I finally get it downloaded. But while it is installing the update, I get a kernel panic. So, I restart the computer, but now it freezes at the startup screen with the grey apple on it. No little progress gear moving around. No nothing.
I press the SHIFT key after the chimes during startup, but nothing but the grey apple happens.
I press APPLE-S after the chimes, but it doesn't take me to single-user mode. Instead, it gives me a page of saying what it was unable to do and then just sits there.
Any ideas? I could sure use some help!
