Well, my first video card, an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro crapped out in two years, so I replaced it with an InVidea 6800 GT; this card has lasted exactly one year (or is about to die): at this point, the fan screams, at idle the temperature is 188 degrees F; when playing any games (CoD, Myst, etc.), the temperature jumps to 233 degrees F! Normally, the temperature seldom exceeded 167F at idle, and never higher than 186F during the most taxing graphic activity. What could be the cause of the short life of these cards? Lack of Quality Control at the factory?

Yes, its lack of quality control at the factory. Thats the only possible answer. Or global warming.

Nothing is blocked; global warming a possibility, though QC could be the culprit. These cards aren't cheap. What would be the best card for a rev A G5? Will the ATI X800 XT fit? I need to start researching now before the nVidia completely dies.
