Dear all,

I have come across a Radeon X800XT that I traded with a friend of mine for an older laptop. I was reading on ATI's website that the card is for G5 only. I was wondering if it would work for my Powermac? I did not want to plug the card in and have it blow up in my face.

Any help?

Thanks, Anthony

leehotti is correct. The X800XT will not work. Some have managed to modify PC X800s to work on G4s, but even then the one machine that they did not work in were the MDDs which is what you have.

The X800XT Mac Edition is an AGP 8x Pro format card. I don't think it will even physically fit in anything but the G5's AGP Pro slot. Note that the card doesn't even have an aux power connector - the AGP Pro slot can provide the necessary extra voltage, whereas standard AGP-based X800's require a molex power connector.

The X800XT Mac Edition will most definitely NOT work in anything but a G5.
