So I was copying some files to my iPod, when all of a sudden, the screen went darkish, and I was told to restart my computer. AKA a kernel panic. Now this could be due to the potentially faulty HD inside the iMac (it is going back and being replaced by Apple for free), or it could have nothing to do with the HD.

Just thought some of you might be interested to know

Does it throw a KP when you transfer files from the internal HD to an external one other than the iPod?

I'm not sure I understand. Why should it be caused by a brand new HDD in a brand new iMac rather than by a faulty iPod (or other hardware peripheral)?

Could we see the panic log here?

And after such an incident, I would say run the Hardware Test to see if there is anything wrong.

Simon, it may have been caused by the Hard drive because I have just sent my imac back for having a faulty hard drive, and they are replacing it by thursday. Sorry but the iMac has already been sent back, so im afraid I cant show you a panic log or run a hardware test
