Linky

Either Apple is trying to clear out the remaining stock, or they came to see that allowing the PPC iMacs to coexist with the faster Intel iMacs at the same price point didn't make much sense.

Regardless, price drops are always nice.

I cant decide which to get, the last PPC version or a new intel. It wouldnt be until spring anyway, but Id be doing FCP, Avid and PS work mostly, with some after effects occasionally.
PPC or Intel?

Depending on how long you wait, you might not have a choice. I hear that Apple is just selling the G5s until they get rid of current stock.

But in general it would depend on whether the software you use will be available in Universal Binary form by the time you get around to buying it.

The 20" iMac g5 from Amazon is a very good deal with the rebate, BTW.

By the Spring (aka end of march) FCP will be a universal binary, and i suspect it will be highly optimised for dual processors, meaning it should run much faster on an intel imac than on a G5 imac
