I am going to be getting a new Intel iMac and want to transfer everything over from the eMac. Migration assistant will bring all the apps and registrations and prefs over intact, correct? I get lost when things don't go smooth. I would like it if all my tunes and pictures were ready to use when I am finished. I can then clean up the new computer when I am ready. I am giving the eMac to my son for his new restaurant, so I want to trash stuff that he won't need, although our musical tastes are interestingly similar.

Migration Assistant is a breeze. I love it. Don't worry about it, it takes care of everything.

Update. I got my new iMac and tried Migration Assistant. I was unable to restart the new iMac. I could log in and shut down. Went to the help line and they tried everything, and the fan started running full blast all the time. I am getting a new iMac today, but I think I will take the time to drag what I want off the old machine using target disk mode. It shouldn't be this complicated.
