Was wondering about Mac Mini memory, cause 512 is a bit sluggish for what I do, hoping to put a sizable amount of ram (1GB +) in there, but was wondering, does it use SO-DIMM?

How easy is it to swap out RAM sticks on the Mini?

No the Mac Mini uses standard desktop DIMM RAM sticks. The maximum amount of RAM that can be put into a Mac Mini is 1 GB due to it only having one RAM slot.

It is relativly easy to put RAM into the Mini, however you must use a putty knife to open it up, which could be fiddley.

You say 512 is sluggish 'for what you do'... what do you do? Are you sure a mini will be powerful enough for what you need to do (if you haven't already got it...)
iMac Core Duo 1.83 Ghz | 1.25GB RAM | 160HD, MacBook Core Duo 1.83 Ghz | 13.3" | 60HD | 1.0GB RAM

I do everything under the sun, mostly.

But mostly graphics and print layouts. Mini's aren't the best, true, but it runs way better than the old 533mhz G4 I struggled with for a year. Just figured extra RAM would give it a nice bump

Nope, it uses standard 184-pin DDR memory. There are a ton of articles out there showing how to open the Mac Mini up. Installing RAM is a piece of cake.

Also keep in mind the Mini has a 4200rpm notebook hard drive, which contributes to "teh sluggy." Otherworld Computing sells 7200rpm notebook drives that are compatible with the MIni, or there are nifty little external hard drive enclosures/hubs like the Mini mate that come with 3.5" desktop 7200rpm drives.

Regarding your original question, 512mb is the bare minimum for OS X, in my opinion. Go ahead and upgrade it to 1gb (PC 2700.)

This is the RAM module I used in my first Mac Mini. Works great and is VERY inexpensive right now:

Newegg has better prices (and service, IMO).

Speaking of hard drive enclosures/hubs, here's one you can add your own drive to:
