Hey,

Just wondering if anyone was in the same boat as me, or if this is just a single instance. I ordered a 20" intel iMac from Amazon on Tuesday evening, using overnight shipping. The iMac was listed with a "Ships within 24 hours" time-frame, with a scheduled delivery of Thursday, 2/9.

Yesterday afternoon Amazon called me to confirm that I truly placed the order and that it wasn't fraud. I confirmed it and was told that the order would be on its way. As of 8:30 last night, I was still not charged, and it was still listed as "Not yet shipped" without even "Being prepped for shipment". I called Amazon back and was told that it would probably ship before midnight last night, and that there definitely was stock in the warehouse allocated to my order.

I check my order status today, and it says "Estimated ship date Feb 11-16, Delivery Feb 14-17". It lists an unexpected delay. I figured that...okay, maybe they had a bit of backlog, and now (as Amazon often does) they would be listing their iMacs as something along the lines of "Usually ships within 2-3 days", which I would be unhappy about, but understand. Yet if you search for intel iMacs, they still list a 24 hour ship time.

I guess this is just more of a vent than anything else, but I was also just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me, or plainly if anyone has ordered an iMac from Amazon within the past few days and had it ship?

Thanks!
Josh

I ordered one for my wife on Monday (2/06/06) afternoon. Last night, I received an email stating that it had shipped. Sure enough I have a tracking number and the delivery date is still the same one that was given to me when I placed the order. In fact, it's being delivered today (02/09/06). I also signed up for the trial Amazon Prime shipping and got the overnight option for $3.99. Hmmm, I wonder what the delay could be....

You guys should definitely call Amazon and get a refund of your shipping costs...

My parents ordered a 20" Intel iMac from Amazon last Friday and received it yesterday (Wednesday). I'd definately ask for a refund of whatever you paid for shipping.

Well, fortunately or unfortunately depending on how you look at it, I signed up for the trial period of Amazon Prime, so I only paid $3.99 for the overnight shipping.

To further confuse things, shortly after I posted this morning, I checked the Amazon status and the notice about "an unexpected delay" had disappeared and the order was changed to "This item is being prepped for shipment and cannot be changed or cancelled, shipping soon", and my credit card was finally charged. (I was told yesterday by one of the people I spoke with that they don't charge the card until your item literally is getting ready to go out the door. Prior to that they only do a $1 authorization.) Adding yet another piece of confusion however, is that my estimated arrival dates are still listed as Feb 14-17. WTF? And to even FURTHER confuse things if you are even still following along, approximately two hours after my card had been charged and the delay message was removed, I received an E-MAIL from Amazon apologizing, saying that "We wanted to let you know that there is a delay with some items in the order you placed on February 07 2006". Keep in mind that this was sent after my order status had been changed to "prepping for shipment" and my card had been charged. Hopefully this was just a slow e-mail that should have been sent early this morning when my order status was first delayed by one week.

I'll keep you updated!
