I think I've decided against the Intel iMacs as I have too much invested in PPC software plus I don't want to deal with any headaches.

But I do have the opportunity to get a RevC 20" iMac iSight for about $100 more.
I'm kind of torn, since the RevB. seems to be running fine, no heat issues, plus it's more user accessible to replace optical drives.

The iSight cam is not a biggie...but I'm wondering how much of difference the video card is? Are there other benefits to the RevC. over the Rev.B?

The video card difference is nearly zero... X600 is pretty much just 9600 on PCIe instead of AGP.
I'd stick with your Rev B.

In that situation I'd stick with the rev B - I always liked the user accessibility of its internals - and wait a few years before the change to Intel is more fully settled

Yeh, there will really be no speed increase (guessing your current iMac is 1.8 or 2.0 Ghz vs the Rev C iMacs 2.1 Ghz), and the graphics won't make much difference either. The only reason I can think of getting the new one is if, when you are using your current Rev B, you are constantly wishing you bought a certain build to order option, like a superdrive, bluetooth, airport, and hard drive size (I don't know which of those first three were standard on the Rev B's), but apart from that, no reason IMO

If you buy an iSight for $150 and stick it on top of your iMac, you basically have a Rev. C, except with yours you'll be able to swap out the drives if you ever want to. I'd keep the B unless you really want Front Row.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

^^^ What he said. Well, I'd just keep what you (and I!) have even if you do really want Front Row, since you can make it run using Front Row Enabler (too lazy to link, Google/VT it) and a keyspan remote, bluetooth phone, or wireless kbd/mouse.

If you want an iSight, it may be worth it to upgrade for that alone. That + Front Row & remote would make it worthwhile.

Hey thanks for all the feedback. The iSight isn't an issue, since I'd rather have the external version anyways. I can also buy a Mighty Mouse separately.

I must admit though, I do like the slimmer profile of the Rev.B. I know it' sounds silly, but that extra 1/4" does make it seem bulkier.

But I think I won't bother going Rev.C...not worth the trouble and expense.

I assume you mean Rev. C

While it's true that the video cards are technically almost the same, the 9600 in the Rev B is the 9600 Mobility (well, according to BareFeats, and I think that was confirmed) and the X600 in the 20" Rev C is the XT - a much higher clocked version. For some real world tests, try this page

I argued this in another thread (that the iMac had the mobile card), but I couldn't find another source to confirm it.
