I just bought a new Intel iMac (2 ghz, 1 gb ram, 20in, etc) and am fairly happy with it, except for the audio problems. Let me list them:

- when using external speakers, and the system is on mute, the imac still sends little "clicks" and noises every now and then to the speakers.

- if using headphones, you can hear the electronics "inside" the imac. it's hard to explain, but it's like a mic inside.. you can hear the fan perfectly, and hear everything, etc, etc. you can hear it faintly with external speakers.

- as covered elsewhere, the output is very quiet, and even with my amp on full power, the audio is quiet.

- there is always some noise coming out of the audio output jack.. very faint, kindof like static, etc.

all of the above problems are not related to my power source or speakers.. i used a powerbook g4 with the speakers and power, and it works fine. also, interesting to note, i dont *think* i have the above problems with the internal speakers.. just whatever uses the external audio on the imac.

anyone know any solutions?

well...
i run same spec with logitechs...and man...they ROCK the house!
I do a few clicks once in a while...but hardly noticeable...more speaker related...
Have u tried fidling with the audio properties ??
It might be that u have a 'audio loops' so grounding problems...try changing the power supply around..or running the cables away from power ones...electromagnetic radiation is TERRIBLE for audio.
U running analoge or digitial ?
