We are installing a new XServe with 10.4.5 Server and want to move over several external Firewire 800 hard drives that are currently attached to a Windows 2000 server. Is this possible without having to reformat as Mac OS Extended HFS?
The Xserve mounts them fine - but as Read only - cannot wite to them.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

The external drives are formatted as NTFS. OS X does not support writing to NTFS volumes.

You'll have to reformat them as FAT32 or HFS+ for write support on OS X.
