ok, so for the new imac intel duo does it natively support videoIN or must i buy some USB peripheral?

Also BTW i am looking to use my MAC as a DVR....is there anything that i can purchase to make it do so? Does FrontRow support this?

You have to buy an external peripheral like the ones El Gato provides.

The best solution for using your iMac as a DVR is to follow the link that Mavherzog posted. Elgato does have an external USB box that you plug in to off-load the processing. Or, you can pick their software solution. FrontRow does not record TV shows and does not have a tuner. Its mainly a frontend for iLife.

Yes, the Elgato 200 is a great device. Firewire with external encoder, so it doesn't use your processor for encoding. Really nice.
