I tried setting up open firmware password on three G4 power macs, and after setting it up, two out of three units no longer boot to anything unless the option key is held, then after entering the password, and clicking the hard drive, the units boot, but I need them to boot to the hard drive normally, without having to reenter the open firmware password every time the computer restarts.

Boot ROM Version is 4.2.8f1
OS 10.3.9
Open Firmware Password application version 1.0.2

Does anyone know how to fix the issue?

Thanks,
RMSe17

Um, about half way down this article:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106482

It mentions: Important: If you reset the PRAM or Open Firmware, you need to reselect your startup device prior to resetting the Open Firmware Password.

there are also some trouble shooting tips at the end.
