Why aren't you using iChat for AIM?

hey, i have an emac and the same thing happens to me where aim randomly shuts down, i never noticed it was b/c of the mighty mouse though. Maybe i'll switch back to my regular apple mouse for a while and see if that helps, i don't quite understand what would prompt it to shut down though. I've been using ichat for a while and it's fine but i do feel AIM has some advantages over it so i'd like to get that resolved if anyone knows what the problem is?

I typically use Adium for text IM'ing. I mention iChat because it should already be on your system AND is the best solution for video chatting (since you DO have a new iMac with built-in iSight).

I took the side scroll option off of the mighty mouse and AIM hasnt quit once since. So if your looking to keep using your mightymouse and really wanna stay with aim try doing what I did.

adium is awesome, ichat has its benefits too. but AIM sucks, I got too frustrated with problems similar to yours. It would randomly sign off, then wouldnt sign back on because of something like "you have tried to log on too many times recently, please a few minutes and try again"

Whenever I use the official AIM client it crashes within 30 minutes (PowerBook G4, any version of Tiger, no peripherals or anything). But I switched to Adium a long time ago.

This is about an application (or which application to use), right? It should have been in the Applications forum, since there's nothing hardware specific that anyone has brought up. If this question hasn't been answered, start a new question in the Applications forum.
