Recently my sisters Mac mini has been showing this icon occassionally, rather than the usual bluetooth status icon.
What does it mean exactly? Each time it shows this the bluetooh mouse and keyboard do not work. Why is it doing this? Does the internal bluetooth module have a loose connection? Or is it a software bug?

FYI for the future: instead of using a camera to take a blurry photograph, use command-shift-4 to take a screen shot. It'll give you a nice clean graphic to post.

My guess is that since the keyboard and mouse (BT) don't work when this icon is displayed, that is probably a bit problematic (especially if they don't have a backup wired keyboard available).

Yeah I had to use iSight connected to my Powerbook because like 'mavherzog' pointed out, my keyboard/mouse wasn't functional at the time. And when the keyboard did work, the icon was different. Didn't have the time to take a high-res. picture. But this gives a good enough idea, no?
