So I installed the new ATI Radeon 9200 yesterday. Works great. My problems with WC3 have gone away for the most part, now it's just my processor that is slowing me down a tad, but not much. I also recently added 128mb of ram and expect another 256mb to arrive today (Thanks Bowwoman). I suppose next will be the OS, from 10.2.8 to 10.4.5, than possibly the hard drive (sitting at an amazing 10GB) and last the processor (since that will be the most expensive). I'm slowly getting up to speed and so far have only invested $282 for what I have. Not too bad for what it is, I suppose.

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the help I've received around these parts.

Good stuff

I took my 400MHz Sawtooth, 10G drive, Rage 128, 64MB RAM to 900MHz, 3x120GB drives, Radeon 8500, 1GB RAM over 4 years or so. A bit here and there really adds up!

By the time you buy all these upgrades, couldn't you get a (faster) Mac mini for less money?

1.5Ghz Core Solo, 512MB PC2-5300, 80GB HDD...

I upgraded my G4 (400MHz) 3 years ago. After changing the graphic card 2 times, changing the drives a few times, maxing out the RAM, upgrading the processor, I probably invested enoght to buy another MAC. But it was fun to do and since I did it over a period of about a year and an half, it was not tha bad.

Since I recently bought a G5 Quad, I now use my G4 as a file/back-up server.

In my case, no, because they were done over the course of a few years. There's no way I would have stuck to my base model Sawtooth for 5 years!

Not really. Upgrading is my only option at the time. I'm horrible at money management and rarely have enough cash on hand to outright purchase a new computer. It will be at least a month before I buy 10.4 and month after that before I buy a new HD. I'm looking at sometime towards the end of summer at the earliest before I can buy a new processor. Piecing it together works for me better. If I had more disposable income, it would be a different story.
