Hi all, I was wondering what should I do, step by step, when i'll get my iMac later this month, assuming that I'll want to set it up alone. I am familiar with PC, but iMac... no. So am I going to install Tiger from a DVD?, or is it already installed on the iMac? And how many cables are going to be? Is it a difficult process? And is there an activation process with Apple, etc. etc. Any feedback much welcomed, many many thx.

Tiger will be pre-installed. When you first start up your new iMac a setup program will guide you through all the necessary steps to get up and running. Even the "activation process" will be part of the setup program.

Congrats on deciding to get an iMac. Setup will be EXTREMELY simple. You have nothing to worry about. The Computer will walk you through it step by step!

If you already have a wireless router set up, you'll only have 3 things to plug in - your power cable, keyboard to usb, and mouse to keyboard . . . . then you're ready to go and ready to join the nation! Congrats and see you soon!

There is no activation process. At the end of the set-up process you will be given the possibility to register your Mac online with Apple (for warranty purposes) but it most definitely is not an activation process.

The old iMac commercial still applies today. Setup is three easy steps:
1: Plug it in
2: Turn it on
3: There is no step three.

Setup is very easy and you'll have no problem getting started. Once you're ready to start transfering files from your PC come to the MacNN forums. Lots of people have asked how do that before, and any questions you may have along the way have probably already been asked and answered before
