2.7 powermac... to me it runs slow takes about 35secs to open photoshop
and take over 12hrs to do some color correcting in fcp... This is with 6gigs of ram installed... What's wrong? Should I reinstall Tiger?

When the RAM failed in my iBook after a year of fine performance, it caused everything to go a 1/100th of its normal speed. A bad stick of RAM will not necessarily prevent the machine from booting or appearing to run normally, but it could cause it run very slowly.

Seems to me the cause of all this was due to a bad harddrive...
We have reinstalled os X and photo went down to 4secs.

The problem was there before the new ram was installed.

Bad ram can cause all kinds of problems from freezing/lockups to slow and
inconsistent performance, you name it. The same goes for hard drives.

Looks like you solved it.
