I'm upgrading from my beige G3 / OS 9.1 to a G4 Sawtooth running OS-X Panther. I want to put the second hard drive from the G3 into the G4 . It's a 60 Gb IDE formatted as HFS+ with two partitions, its own 9.1 system folder , set to Slave ).

Will this work right off and recognized by OS-X without format issues etc ? I'd like an answer from an experienced user tech before I try this.

Thanx

Slave is correct, and HFS+ is correct. It should be good to go. My Sawtooth shipped with 9.0.1 and booted 9.1 just fine.

Yep, it'll work. HFS+ will work no problems. Just make sure that you have it in the middle of the cable (put it on top of the existing drive in the G4).

If you hold down 'option' as the g4 boots, you can select to boot from the 9.1 partition on the slave drive.

If you can, upgrade the 9.1 to 9.2.2, it is nicer to be up to date
