I have a Dual 2.5 Ghz G5, PCI-X, machine, and recently have begun cooling it more effectively.

I was wondering exactly how much "lee-way" there is on the molex power connectors in it. I have a few small, quiet, but very effective fans, that tap into molex power and split off, or that just connect to the molex connector from a Y-splitter. I am wondering, if there is enough power running through the connectors to attach, for example, 1 or 2 small fans to the molex power connector that runs to my DVD-RW drive. Could I place them in the case in an area they would be effective, and have them set so they simply run when the computer is on. Does this risk frying / underpowering my DVD-RW drive? Is there a different power source I could tap into?

How have others connected additional internals to the G5 power supply?
yep.
