Hello All,

Currently I am running 2 power mac G5's at work. One is a slightly older G5 with the dual 2.5 Ghz and the other is a newer one with dual 2.3Ghz. Both are running OSx 10.4.5. We have Lacie D2 external drives attatched to both. On the older 2.5 G5 the drive powers up and down with the computer, which is what we want. On the newer computer the drive stays on all the time regardless of the state of the computer. On Lacie's site it says that the drive will not power down if the computer keeps power supplied to the firewire bus when it is shutdown. Is there a way to change this in settings? Basically we want it to cut firewire power when the computer is shutdown. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I apologize if this subject has been covered on here before.

Does unmounting the disk shut the drive down? It's not an elegant solution but it might work. Maybe setup a little Applescript to unmount the drive and then shutdown.
