I was just checking Permissions, etc with Disk Utility by starting up with my Install disk and Disk Utility isn't showing my Hard Drive!!??? When I try and start up my iMac it show a flashing question mark on a Folder. I have tried starting up from Diskwarrior Disk but that also doesn't show my Hard Drive??!!

is this a g5 imac? I had the same problem with my imac g5. Apple put crappy seagate drives in some of them and when they get bad spots they become unusable by osx. I have to install my drive in a windows machine and use the seagate utility to zero out the drive. I replaced it back in my mac and it worked for a while and then failed again. I then bought a hitachi deskstar drive and thats been running fine for a year.

Yes. That's right it is a G5 iMac. Thank you for your advice. Could you possibly point me in the right direction of where I can buy a new hard drive? and How do I get it out of the iMac and install it into a Windows Machine?

On the first question,
http://www.newegg.com
http://www.tigerdirect.com
On the second, why do you want to? Stolfi1 only did what he did to salvage the existing drive. That drive will just fail you again. Forget it. Get something that isn't crap and just use that. You might plug in the old Seagate just to get your stuff off it, but that is it.

Look on newegg.com and tigerdirect for a sata hitachi deskstar. To replace the drive remove the 3 screws on the bottom of your imac. lift the back shell off. inside in the upper right you will see your drive remove the 3 screws holding it in and the screws holding the shield. You need a allen wrenches to get the harddrive out of its cradle go to walmart they sell a small plastic bag of them for 89 cents.
