Hi there, i stumbled across your forums and decided it was time to announce to the world my switch

actually thats not the main reason

Im just waiting on my new mac min i to arrive and ive been thinking of the possibilities of what i can do with this, one thing i am particually intrested in, is media-centr-izing it to my tv with an svideo cable when im not using it "properly"

is it possible to record tv direct to the mini? if so what sort of hardware would i be looking at?

I hope i enjoy my mac experience as much as i think i will

Welcome to the apple mac world. I've only had my iMac a week, and this is my forst Mac too!!

I'm not an expert myself, but try www.elgato.com. They have a few offerings depending on whether you want to record satellite, cable or terrestrial TV. Some models are expensive as they have their own built in HDD, but there is a model for about £80 (or $120US) that will record onto the mini's own HDD.

does your cable box have a dv out connection? (Also knon as iLink, ieee1334, firewire) as this could meen that you can do it on the cheap!!! Otherwise elgato might be your best bet.

My street cannot get cable (gated community) and most people I know (none of whom have Mac's) have sky. As such, I've never seen a cable box!
