Hi everyone I am new here and to mac and was hoping some one could help me out. I recently was given a G-4 Quicksilver model 800-MHZ with very little accessories... only 1 cd drive a hard drive and 2 fire wire ports.

Any way I bought an external DVD-r 2 days ago that is compatible with OS-9.2 and is fire wire, hooked it up and it was working fine for about 29 hours. Today I turn my MAC on only to find that the Pioneer DVD-R drive was not showing up in the system profiler nor on my desktop.

I just figured it was a glitch, but while I was doing some tweaking to the hard drive I booted off of my CD warrior disk and low and behold the Drive showed up while booting from that CD however it still is not being recognized when I boot up with my HD It's been like this all day now and I'm stumped.

Why is this happening? why would it just do this out of the blue? And wow am I frustrated.

Thank you and nice board.

first of all, it is Mac. not MAC.

you should check pioneers website for firmware upgrades. have you tried installing it into the other FW port?

you should also consider upgrading to OS X.

Does the drive show up when you boot into OS X (to put another way, what version of DiskWarrior have you used?)?
But I concur with Tooki, I've used a Dual G4 800 to burn some DVDs on OS 9 …
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.
