Hello -- I’m using a Dual 2.0 GHz PowerPC G5 (M9590LL/A). When I compare my drive bays to the photos that Apple includes in their PDF entitled, “Power Mac G5: Technology Overview: October 2005," the difference I see is that the base of their assembly is flat and the data cable for the lower drive bay comes straight up to connect to the drive. On my machine, the assembly has a base with two cutouts -- one on the left and one on the right. The data cable for the lower drive bay comes out of the cutout on the left-hand side. So, in order to connect it to the drive, I need to bend it to the right. I recently had some mounting/booting problems with the B drive, so I swapped the positions of my two drives. The problems seem to be solved now, and the only thing I can think of is that perhaps the kink in the bottom data cable is now a bit less severe. But why should have to bend it at all? And why doesn’t my machine look like the photos on Apple’s site? I’ve been searching all over the place, and I can’t find any discussion of this. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It's seemed very weird to me.
I don't think you should have bend it.
