Hi,

I find that the Superdrive on my Core Duo 20in iMac is painfully slow to read audio CDs and ofetn can't read them at all. Importing in to iTunes is slower than my old Powerbook.

I can get decent import times if I copy the sound files to my hard drive, or read from an external Firewire DVD drive.

Any idea what is up? I think my drive is either bad, or has crud on the lens.

Anybody seen this kind of thing before?

My iMac G5 is very slow loading and our old PB is much faster also.

So i finally took my machine in for service, as i tested with an external DVD drive, and that was plenty fast. The diagnosis was a faulty superdrive, which will be replaced under warranty. So if you have problems, I'd suggest taking the machine in.
