Last month, my iMac G5's HD started giving me errors, so I backed up, wiped the drive and tried to reinstall Tiger, but the installation also resulted in errors.
I figured the drive was toast, so I installed Tiger on an external FireWire drive, which worked fine, and have been running from that.
I bought a brand new internal drive and installed it today, but lo and behold I get errors when trying to install Tiger on it as well. Now I'm thinking nothing was wrong with my orginal drive.
The DVD check during install says the disk is okay and, like I said, it installed fine from the DVD to an external drive, so I don't think anything is wrong with my Tiger DVD.
Also, when booted from the external drive I'm able to see the internal HD and read and write to it without problems. I just can't get Tiger to install on it.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem is? I guess I should dig out my Hardware Test CD.
Thanks.
